Why do we have a complete sense of
our surroundings? Because we mentally weave many
views by looking at every direction. PanoStitcher
does just that with a camera and a computer! It combines photos of many view directions into one image that provides
a truly immersive experience.
Due to the nature of the stitching job, it is much harder for any
software to stitch a variety of photos from the real world than those of
the ideal world. PanoStitcher has overcome these obstacles in
terms of robustness, flexibility and ease of use. It is the first
stitching software to be truly fully functional for real world tasks.
Some of its distinguishing unique features are:
-
Auto/Marker
stitching: Since there can be all sorts of images from
the real world, there can never be 100% automation success. PanoStitcher
guarantees success via full automation for most cases and manual
tools for difficult occasions (especially for photos with motion and
parallax).
-
Handheld
capability: This is supported by PanoStitcher's
fundamental design principle. A tripod becomes optional, not
essential, equipment.
-
Automatic
detection of focal length: Focal length is a foreign
concept for many consumers. Furthermore, with zooming there is no
way to know the exact focal length used. PanoStitcher
eliminates the guesswork.
-
Correction of
lens distortion and chromatic aberration: While
present to some degree in many lenses, the distortion and aberration
are particularly noticeable for the wide-angle lens of digital
cameras. PanoStitcher automatically corrects these problems.
